family vacationWhen you travel with kids, parents, and grandparents, you have the ultimate opportunity to make those special memories that will last forever. It can be such a special time to really get away from your busy lives and spend some uninterrupted time with those you love. But there is a little more planning involved in this type of vacation. Here are a few tips to make this a vacation that everyone will love!

  • Find a destination that everyone will enjoy. This may be harder than you think! Have a family meeting to discuss places that each person would like to visit. You may not find one place that everyone agrees on but try to compromise on a destination that has something for everyone.
  • Have some activities for the entire group. Make sure that you are spending a lot of your time in a large group so that you have that time to make those amazing memories. Enjoy meals together, have game night one evening, and other things that the entire family will love!
  • Have some different activities for the different age groups to do on their own. Let the kids enjoy their own activities, or let the parents have a romantic dinner on the beach alone. It’s important for the different groups to have some time away from the big group too.
  • Build in some downtime for those that don’t want to go, go, go all the time. The grandparents may want to head back to their room for a break during the day. Or let the kids go ride the big roller coasters in a theme park while the parents and grandparents enjoy a glass of wine at a nearby restaurant. This is not the time to wear everyone out.
  • Coordinate everyone’s travel plans. If you have people traveling together from all over the country, it can be a little more difficult to coordinate your travel plans. But try to make sure that planes arrive at the same time, or you arrive at your hotel close to the same time. Of course, your Wishes & Dreams Travel Advisor can take care of those details for you, so you don’t have to stress about that part of the trip!family cruise

And here’s a bonus tip: Take lots of pictures to document this special time with those you love! Traveling with the entire family is something that may not happen often, so take pictures to remember it! You may even want to schedule a professional photo session to get truly beautiful photos.

A cruise or all-inclusive vacation is a great way to travel with extended family.  These types of vacations are a little more relaxing than maybe a trip to Europe where you’re sightseeing every day. Grandparents can relax on the deck of the cruise ship while the kids enjoy the kids’ clubs, but there are many fun activities that the entire family can enjoy. At an all-inclusive resort, you don’t have to worry about where to go for meals, and the grown-ups can relax on the beach while the kids play in the ocean.

Wherever you decide to go, take the opportunity to travel with your entire family! This is truly a fabulous way to connect with those you love and make those wonderful memories!
