Genie is the new way to avoid standing in long lines at Walt Disney World. This is a new system that will began on October19, 2021. There are 3 tiers to the Genie system. The first tier, Genie, is complimentary with your park tickets. This is a new addition to the My Disney Experience app. The Genie will help you with things like:
- Real-time tip board
- Forecasted wait times
- Mobile ordering
- Restaurant wait lists, check-in, and reservations
- Attraction virtual queues
- and more!
The second tier is Genie+. This will be an additional cost of $15 per person per day. The Genie+ will give you access to the Lightning Lanes (formerly called FastPass+ lines) to avoid waiting in long lines at your favorite attractions.
The third tier is the Individual Attraction Selections. Some of the most popular attractions in each park will not be on the Genie+ list but will be available for an additional purchase of the Individual Attraction Selections. You can choose up to 2 of these Individual Attractions per day. The cost for this will be per person and will change based on the date of your visit, attraction, and park. Currently the cost is estimated to be $7-$15 per person per attraction.
There are two ways to add Genie+ to your tickets. You can purchase Genie+ for your entire package before your stay. That way you will be able to minimize the time you spend waiting in lines for your entire vacation. Your Wishes & Dreams Travel Consultant will add this for you. You can also purchase Genie+ service on each day you wish to use it through the My Disney Experience app on your smartphone. The Individual Attraction Selections will be available to you to purchase for up to 2 attractions per day, per person, through your My Disney Experience app on the day of use.
Using your Genie+ is easy! You can choose your first attraction at 7:00 am, even before you enter the parks! You will go into your My Disney Experience app and choose your first attraction, based on the park you have reservations for that day. The app will give you a time to go to that attraction, and then at that time you will enter the Lightning Lane line. After you’ve used that selection you can make another selection for your next attraction, and so on…. You may only select an attraction once a day with Genie+. If you’d like to ride that attraction again you must wait in the standby line.
If you’re selecting a very popular attraction, you may get a return time that is later in the day. If that is the case, the app will tell you when you can make another selection, before using the first one. 
Guests staying at a Disney resort, at Disney’s Swan and Dolphin resorts, and the Shades of Green resort can make their first Individual Attraction purchase at 7:00 am. Guests staying at other resorts will be able to make their first purchase when the park opens. Remember that you can only purchase this for 2 attractions per day, even if you are park hopping, so make your choices wisely!

There are some attractions that you just don’t need to use Genie+ for, even though that attraction is available for you to select. We won’t be able to actually make your selections for you, but we will help you decide which attractions you will want to choose on your park days. And we can give you some tips for which attractions are the best use of the Individual Attraction Selections too, customized for your family.
After that, it’s really up to you to decide what your “must-do’s” are. Do you REALLY want to have the Star Wars experience? Then use Genie+ to ride Millennium Falcon! Or are your kids dying to ride Slinky Dog Dash, Jungle Cruise or Rockin’ Rollercoaster? Or do you not want to have to wait in line for some of your favorite shows? Just remember that you will have to wait until you use your current selection before you can choose again, so choose wisely!
You do not have to purchase Genie+ to enjoy your favorite attractions at Walt Disney World! If you do not purchase Genie+, you will just wait in the standby line for all attractions. And remember that you can still use the complimentary Genie service to help you make the most of your day!
